How BabelFace collects, uses, protects, and shares information when you use our reverse face search service.
When you create an account or use the Services, you may voluntarily provide information including your email address, password, and the photos you upload to run a search. If you contact support or request removal of your own images, you may provide additional details such as your name and, where needed to verify identity, an anonymized scan of an identification document.
When you subscribe to a paid plan or unlock a result, payment is processed by our third-party payment provider acting as merchant of record. They collect the information needed to process your payment, such as name and billing location. BabelFace does not store your full card details.
When you use the Services we automatically collect technical and usage data, including your activity, searches performed, results returned, data usage and duration of use, along with device information such as browser type, operating system, and approximate location derived from your IP address.
BabelFace maintains an index of face “fingerprints” derived from images that are publicly available on the open internet and from sources that permit indexing. When you run a search, we temporarily process the uploaded image to generate a fingerprint and compare it against this index to surface potential matches.
When you upload a photo to run a search, you agree that we may collect, use, and process that photo as described in this Policy in order to perform the search and return results. We do not sell your uploaded photos to third parties. Uploaded photos are encrypted in transit and at rest, and are used only to generate the facial fingerprint needed to perform your search.
You may access, correct, or delete the photos associated with your account at any time. Photos uploaded to run a search are retained only for the period needed to return and display your results, after which they are deleted as described in the Retention section below.
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, understand how the Services are used, and, where permitted, to measure and improve advertising. You can manage or decline cookies through your browser settings, though disabling some cookies may impact your experience of the Services.
We share information with service providers who help us operate the Services, such as those that process payments, provide hosting, analytics, and customer support. We may also disclose information: with your consent; when required by law or valid legal process; to protect the rights, safety, and property of BabelFace and our users; or in connection with a substantial corporate transaction such as a merger or sale of assets.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, to request that it be corrected or deleted, and to opt out of certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below; we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
Removing your own face. If a search surfaces images of you, you may opt out and request removal of your images from future results. We will process verified removal requests promptly.
We retain account information for as long as your account is active and for a limited period after closure, generally up to 30 calendar days, except where a longer period is required by law. Search results and the photos you upload to run a search are retained only as long as needed to display your results and are then deleted. Verified opt-out and removal requests are retained only as long as needed to honor them.
We implement technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security testing. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to address any incidents responsibly.
The Services are not intended for use by individuals under the age of eighteen (18). We do not knowingly collect information from minors, and we use monitoring mechanisms to detect and prevent unauthorized use involving minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with information, please contact us so we can delete it.
We may review and update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
